Brookside Drive

Brookside Drive is a two-lane roadway that runs north-south through the South Mountain Reservation.

Brookside Drive runs through South Mountain Reservation's protected deciduous forests and alongside Campbells Pond. Multiple trailheads can be accessed via small parking lots along the Drive, including a trailhead for the Hemlock Falls Trail.

Originally acquired by the Essex County Park Commission in 1897, the road has undergone many upgrading projects since then. One of the more extensive projects occurred in 1921 when the drive was rerouted to eliminate sharp curves, widened, and paved.
