Sunday 12th Brushes and a number of papers arrived before dinner. He stayed till quite late in the evening. After supper, we played poker. I won 19 cents. Have of late looked over a number of old Mugler in my room + after cutting from items that I wanted have thrown them away. But in that room stands still large piles with which I do not know what to do. The summer comes on + but still I dally. To bed late. Monday 13th Got away late in the morning. Spoke to the young girl next door this morning; a few words. She is odd-looking; that is she is strange-looking. She smiled so sweetly. To the office where I stayed nearly all day and had nothing to do. I was given nothing. All I could do was go to Bath. Spending time there, reading + looking over papers, etc. Have letters tc in the desk. May have been there for weeks. Tuesday 14th Had to resume overcoat of late owing to colder weather. I had it resting in Papa's office. Now it is bawdy. The weather has suddenly changed from quite warm to quite cool. Went my usual way to h.4 + tuck to Bath with nothing happening on my farm. Positively bad outlook. No theatre in weeks. Yet somehow or other I spend more than I should. So owed Curtis about $1 about this time. Hoped to save more money. Haven't. Wednesday 15th End of Herald week. Just me thing given me in 7 days + that cur [through] necessity. Brought in clumsy looking + cheap umbrella + over coat from Bath as the weather looks like rain. Shall in consequence have to carry them all day. To Newark. Aunt Sue got supper of course. Serge to theatre. Will + I passed not very pleasant ev'g. Thursday 16th Played 11 games of billiards. Paid for 5. My c(?) + Will, one maudeville(?) + a fat tall man. Did not leave Newark till 3. 50 train. All the Newark folk at (?) about D(?) factory. Bought (?) for $2.60. To Bath. There whiled away evening. No work at office. (?). Friday 17th Allowed my heavy till of $2.60. An assignment to my great surprise. It is a small affair. Down for a quarter. To 69th St. Got kegs from Aunt (?). The little girl, home again. Brushes + may there. To meeting of Yale alumni. Wrote a column about it. It is cut down to less than half.
