Brought back the boat to Unionville. Saw the odd customer affair. He [??] in great [??] feeling of my decent behavior in bringing back the boat, said next time I could have it at half price. That I could take it if he were not there declaimed against a party  who had damaged a boat- [?] dollars- he changed the amount [?] it larger or less as his [???] - declared I was a gentleman [??] $1.25 cents with becoming a pirate treated me allowed [?] to be heated by me and was against the heat when I [?] home by [?] William who came with me brought no shoes his feet roughened from the hot [?] and [??] the young ladies wished to pay the expenses I would allow them to pay part no more. Then all became [?] with me especially. Miss [?] Miss P. is sharp faced talks is rather good [?] lively and of [?] age. Visited Miss Walins in afternoon. Played croquet and was beaten badly by her. [???] of myself, did not enjoy my visit and left feeling dis[?]ted Company here. I kept away wrote part of letter to annul [?] It was about uncle Phil [?] Thunder storm and great rain. Very warm [?] slept poorly

Rather cool weather in Bathing. I was chilled. Miss and Mr. [?] called the former and stayed all night. Wrote to Victor [?] and [??] Probably my last letter to Beatrice. Out rowing in evening. Kissed Mary [?] and Miss J. good night: the latter quite unexpected. [??] a letter to Margie.

Miss Emma [?] letters away. I believe it rained very hard all day and yet- when I came to think about it I believe it rained not at all.

Spent the day reading and writing. About 4 in the afternoon Uncle Williamis [?] cause from Newark with information of [?] Francis "death" with the news that Uncles have had broken his leg and with a letter from Uncle to Aunt Sue saying he wounded his horse and buggy. Home Leo. [??] and I after Mr Hornet had injured the carriage by [??] with a tree and had denied to [??] to the end of Jersey City. We then left the [?] and drove a hrose car. The conductor charged us eight cents fare each. We were in Jersey City at half past seven and at [?] by eight. Guard time. A [?] off us witnessed the [??] About 10 it rained ahrd. Papa Aunt [??]
