Brought this week's clipper. Ten cents wasted. Several of my stories appear in today's paper. One from Jefferson Market; both I believe. Last week of Piff Paff at Eagle Theatre. A must enjoyable [blank]. I never get tired of seeing Eclowin. He is about the most outrageously funny man I have ever seen on the stage.

Doing quite well at Jefferson +[&] Essex Markets. I am helped by others to do my work as they are there while I am away. I cannot be in both courts at once and have to skip lively from one place to another in order to keep myself from being [blank].

My cast day at Jefferson +[&] Essex Markets are to return to 57th St. +[&] old salary. [blank] glory. No [blank] assigned. Old man to go backing: Rorke. My bill for this week came, to over $16. That's good at any note. Excise excitement. Closing of saloons. Sent out to find what was going on. The consequences was I stayed at the office loafing as of [blank].

Met Brewer at Press Club. Announced my return. He seemed indifferent. Everyone surprised to find me back. Glad I kept the [blank] from folks. Writing up Court on space now. Hope to make more this way. Paid Brewer $5 he [blank] me. Great trouble in collecting names of [blank] dialers arrested and brought to over Court. Stayed at Herald office till late helping others.

Met George: to Park. Saw for first time Sothern as [blank]. A ridiculous +[&] [blank] piece though not weak so funny as I thought it would be. George enjoyed it very much more than I ever saw him enjoy a play before. Met Mary +[&] Mrs. O'Brien afterwards. George +[&] I down town. Another letter from Mazie complaining of my not sending the $5. Not a line of my excise cases can I find in today's paper. Very little at Court except excise arrests.

To Bath where I believe Brasher called +[&] his brother. Saw first. Had very little to say to him. Still smoking +[&] still [blank] to give it up. Brought a bundle of papers home with me. By way F̶t̶. H̶a̶m̶i̶l̶t̶i̶n̶ of the dummy from Greenwood I think. Did nothing worth talking about. Spent the evening playing billiards in Furnell's and losing money. Papa of course shocked. So long since written forget [blank].

Saw Won at Last at Wallack's. A lengthy play. Some good many poor points in of. Was not over interested in it. A good +[&] enthusiastic audience  called [blank] of actors +[&] actresses out also author Steele Mackaye, who looks quite young +[&] [blank]. He looked enough like Montague at first for me to [blank][blank] for that person. The play of well acted would be quite [blank].

Saw Chanfran in octoroon at Grand Opera House with Wood. A poor play badly played. First time saw Chanfran
Saw Chanfran in octoroon at Grand Opera House with Wood. A poor play badly played. This time saw Chanfran for frist time in Opera House. To Derlin's where we eat heartly + saw Mary Anderson. She is fine looking off as on the stage. A remarkable young girl only 18 or 19 with a great career before her if her health stand it.

Smoking night straight along. [blank] to Court not paying Mrs. O'Brien that $5 Mazie requested me to. By a great stroke of good fortune got hold of a shiny which I wrote up at length. Sent letter to Willie asking him to go with me to Eagle (Wrong did it tomorrow). Had invited Miss Fordtebery to go to to theatre on Saturday Luckily for my pocket she is unable to go.

My stay about 7th Dist. [District] Court is within few lines of column. My bill this week $18.85. Only made $6 out of the police court. The rest extra. Loaned Brewer 50¢. In the evening to Bath by  East dummy. Spent about 3 hours + $1.50 in Furnell's playing billiards + beating. Foolish boy. Wrote nothing today. Spent a quiet evening.
