March, Saturday, 28. 1874 Letter from Bayard. Fine day. Playing ball.

Sunday,29. Mass very long. Played my final game of ball in 1874. Our side defeated. Score 24 to 10. Short game: about an hour and a half.

Monday, 30. Letter from Bayard. Weather pleasant a little wind but sunshine also. Reading Shakespeare. Letter from Wm. Lynch.

Tuesday,31 Nothing.

April, Wednesday, 1. Letter from M...e. Answered it. Good game of ball. Leuelval. Spent pleasant morning.

Thursday, 2. I think it was today that I received letter from Aunt Jin.

Friday, 3. Ball. Yesterday or today heard from papa.

Saturday, 4th. Cold. Snowing slightly yesterday and today. Asked Father James to go home to day. Long discussion and a refusal. Very angry. I am to go tomorrow. Erdrig up of Leut.

Sunday, 5. Fine in the morning very cold in the afternoon. Played ball. Slept till boys were in breakfast. After nine o'clock mass started for home. Arrived in Newark so train for New York till seven o'clock. To New York on top of stage. Very cold. Stopped at halfway house. As we drove up
