Friday 8th. A rainy day was promised and no rain of any account fell. I believe it was a sprinkle here and a sprinkle there all day. Miss Pauline here. Papa to the city. Came home feeling poorly. He has chills and fever. Saturday 9th Played baseball. Unions against Emekas. 10 innings. 15 to 13 in favor of our club. Dan Kelly and Soliman spent the evening over house. Papa quite ill. The doctor called. Spent an hour or so talking to Belle on french man's stoop. Rain in the evenings. Sunday 10th. Opened nicely ended in rain. People next door playing croquet in the evening a Mr. Erskine called. He stayed all night. Dan. Kelly, Mr. Ikea and games. We all seemingly enjoyed ourselves very much. Monday 11th. Cloudy day. Rained every now and then. Spent most of the day with Mr. Erskine. Miss Pauline here in the morning afternoon and evening. Erskine sane danced with us all. Played cards and left about 4. Mrs. Hagard and Belle called after dinner. The former played for over an hour. She is a splendid player. In the evenings to the post-office. Tuesday 12th. Once more rain for a little while. I wrote to George and Emma. Papa to the city. He is feeling better. Mary to the P.O. She mailed my letter to george. I seem to be always writing and never receiving letters. ____ to whom I sent a long letter writes to many, saying why, do I not unite Wednesday 13th. Ball game. Unions vs Pacific 12 to 3. We had little difficulty in beating them. Mrs. Risknajel the Misses sullivan Dan kelly and Solomon spent the evening here. They did not stay long. Had an uneasy sleep. pleasant day. Thursday 14th High wind during the day. About this time I bathed for the first time in a long while. Played ball with members of my club during the afternoon. ____ myself and ladies from next door spent evening here. Friday 15th. Played ball with some of the village boys all afternoon. I enjoyed myself. Mary received a letter from aunt Sue. The boys have been at centennial since Tuesday. Saturday 16th. Played ball. Unions vs Eurekas. Favor of former 33 to 7. Mary Papa and the children to the city. Nearly all the folks from Badgers in here. Mrs. Hassard and Mary rob played the piano. To bed about 11. Rained during the night. Sunday 17th Equinochall Storm. Severe rain all day. Pour! Pour! Pour! High sea. I never knew the waves to be as high or as fierce. It was bad enough all day with the wind high and the rain beating down and the heavy noise of the waters heard outside but at night matters reach a climax the wind blew as I never felt it blow before. A person could not keep his feet.
