June Sunday 3rd More warm weather. Perspiring freely. Yesterday insisted wash woman and payed her $1. She brought the clothes on Tuesday last. She not only washed them but mended and attended to them. She is a good old soul apparently. But then I thought well of that other woman! Up about 9. Breakfast at Harris's. Paid her $3.50 yesterday. To court. Attended to my own and Brewer's copy. Nothing much. Beer. To Harold's office. No Sandy Spencer. Then to Bath. Finally a Mr. Rufus and Sam Solomon visited us. Mrs. Williams called also Marie. I did not see the former. Rained in the afternoon and evening. Parties looking at the houses. Mary and Papa out in the evening. Spent some time talking to Ellen and Willie. Papa and myself did not have anything to say to each other. Mary and I had a conversation about everything. We went to bed quite late. Monday 4th Left Bath by 1:47 dummy. Looking and feeling dirty. Picked up some items for the paper. When I left Bath I had money. I thought it would do me the rest of the week but I became extravagant and by night I had nothing left, or very little. To the Herald and stayed there. Wrote to JUL and to Aunt Sue. Left office late and brought up at Harris' after 12. I paid $4.00, a debt I long wished to get rid of. He was quite good natured about it. Paid Mary Rob the $300 I owed her. It is such a relief to know you owe not. Tuesday 5th Came down to breakfast after 9. I went to Papa's office. He was not there. I stayed there some time. Rain and cool weather. First we had mighty warm weather then it was cool and chilly; then warm again and now its cool and chilly once more. Carried an umbrella. Six court articles. I made up my mind to call upon the Sullivan's. Went to Spencer's and ate; when coming out met Fitzpatrick so back again. Then it was too late to call. Stayed in the office and then to Harris'. Wednesday 6th Wrote to Mary Harrison. Rained very hard. Rained very hard early this morning while I was in bed. Cloudy and rainy most of the day. Very uncomfortable weather. Borrowed fifty cents last night and $100 today. In the evening called to see the Sullivan's at 123 East 18th. They had moved. Told I'd find them at No. 12 on the same street. Went 1512 East 18th; it was a stable; and 672 West 18th which was nothing having no existence. Walked up and down 6th Avenue. Then to office. Stayed there a short time. Went to Harris rather early. Thursday 7th No court. To Harold's office. Had appointment to see M. H . at Papa's office. Must have been there at 5 1/2 was there at 6 1/2. To her house 526 Clermont Ave all dark. Walked around Brooklyn a little. Listened to her English sheet speaker practicing their pills and powders to Harris. Saw that lady and her sister the fair Miss Dickenson and chatted with them. Another girl has left to bed. Rain again. Third day. This time of year has been pleasant and approachable as I remember it. Friday 8th Up early. Called at 326 Clermont Avenue. Blank astonishment when she opened the door. I sent M.H. Lineup here. Her answer why M.J. I am so glad to see you. I stayed till 11 1/2. Talking about many items. Felt rude when leaving to office to court. New office stayed there quite late. Simp letter from bar and about this time. Stayed around office. Nothing too bad. Paid $100 I owed to Brewer and lent him another. Paid Nesbit 50 cents. Had a poor dinner today. Mama grip fast. My bill today was $1070. Same live and six pence. Rain once more. Saturday 9th Up quite early. Paid Harris $3 mid to see wash woman who cleaned my clothes which I left on Tuesday yesterday and day before. That is returned to them last two days. Did not see her.
